To understand the story behind why Equitable Builds exists today, we have to go back to the dreams of a little boy. Ezra Smucker’s life dream was to be a farmer. Caring for the land, growing small things into big things, and creating beauty and life from seemingly nothing was something that drew him in. But like most childhood dreams, as he grew up, his vision of what the future would look like began to change.

      When Ezra was 15 years old, he had the opportunity to work for a custom home builder. While this was quite a shift from the farming life he had imagined, he began to understand a bit more of what drew him to his childhood dreams in the first place. He found seeing things that were subpar or average being shaped into things that were excellent and beautiful was what he wanted to be a part of. This was his experience as he worked to build custom homes as a teenager. In two short years, he was promoted to foreman and knew that this was a path he wanted to pursue further.

      At 18, Ezra began to work for himself, biding his time until he could launch his own business. That day came on January 1st, 2020 when Equitable Builds was established. Equitable means “just, fair, and integrous” and it was a word that stuck out when building the brand as all three pillars are part of the Equitable Builds value system. Since then, the business has continued to grow and shape the construction industry of Harrisburg and beyond. Ezra is focused on bringing a high quality service along with a high quality product. He is ready and able to work with anyone however he especially loves working with clients who are interested in crafting things with quality, creating together something that will stun the world. This includes searching for the best products to help a project not only stand the test of time but also be a showstopper.
